The backyard-water-features in your yard add a wonderful, peaceful feeling to your outdoor living experience. They may include things like a pond or pool, a natural waterfall, a stream, and even a backyard fountain.
This picture is the last of 5 ponds in this backyard in southern Utah. It's partially in the shade here. There are cascading waterfalls until the water arrives at this pond. It holds the koi baby fish that escape being eaten by the bigger fish in the ponds above.
This back yard is devo- ted to noth- ing but the patio and water features.
It is the most relaxing experience hearing the water and watching the koi swimming in the ponds.
FYI: A koi pond is not without its' hazards. This back yard is visited frequently by a blue heron that loves "fishing" from the ponds. This koi owner fights valiantly to keep her koi safe. Everything from scarecrows, taking marshmellow pot shots at the blue heron and even chasing him off with a broom have been tried
This is the lower patio that is in full sun. You can see the plants in the stream at the front of the pix, next to the rock bridge over the stream.
Looking from the lower patio, back up at the upper ponds you get an impression as to the look of this backyard. You can see the edge of the lower patio in the bottom right hand corner of the pix.
I'd move to Southern Utah in a heartbeat if I could have a backyard like this.
